Site Report #2

Teacher Tube is an online instructional resource for teachers and students. Teachers can post videos designed for students or for other teachers for professional development. It is meant to be a safe educationally sound place to share professional videos. Although some of the videos on Teacher Tube are of fair quality, I found that many of them had valuable content. One example is the 6 Traits of Writing video. The teacher recorded her power point presentation with a camcorder, so the quality of the video isn't very good, but the content about sentence fluency is accurate and beneficial for educators. In addition to uploading videos teachers can also upload educational activities, lesson plans, and assessment rubrics. This is a great way to share and add to educational activities. Viewers can decide to join a video group and share materials with people of similar interests and share their videos with their group privately, or publicly. Constructive comments are encouraged to help rate the videos that are uploaded to Teacher Tube. This helps to maintain the site by those who are adding to it...the teachers. As a library media specialist, I would use Teacher Tube for professional development with the staff. I am often asked to give short in-services on the latest technology additions in the district. Of course, getting everyone to attend the in-services can sometimes be a problem. With Teacher Tube they can view the material at their leisure or at the point of need.
